First Name: Stewart

Operating System (if applicable): Windows XP Media Centre Edition Version 2002. Service Pack 2

Question: I have just installed Nortons Ghost 10.0. However when I try to boot my computer into the recovery environment using the the Nortons Ghost CD it does not work.

I have checked and been informed by Nortons Ghost that I need Drivers for Ghost. I will write exactly what it tells me. The following devices do not have drivers in the Symantic Recovery Disk. SpeedTouch USB ADSL PPP. Adetailed information about these devices is given below;

Class : Net, Class Guid: {4D36E972-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318} Description : SpeedTouch USB ADSL PPP Hardware ID : ALCACR\{c93aec0c-808a-11d3-9ce8-0060088d7801} Compatible ID : USB\Class_ff&subClass_00&Prot_00 Compatible ID : USB\Class_ff&SubClass_00 Compatible ID : USB\Class_ff

I hope that you can help me. I look forward to hearing from you soon, Kindest regards, Stewart Storrie.

Our Answer: Hi Stewart. This means your DSL modem drivers are not on the disk. You need the disk with your SpeedTouch USB ADSL drivers on it.

A CD or floppy disc with the drivers on it should have came with the modem. If not, you need to call your ISP and ask them how to get them. Once you do, you need to put them on the Norton Recovery Disk.

I have never done this before, so I am not sure how to, but it might be clear to you since you know exactly what is going on. If you still can't figure out how, you should write or call the Norton Ghost technical support team and ask them how to put those drivers on the disc.

I hope I have been of help to you, and if you have any more questions just send me an email.

Poster Reply: Michael thanks for getting back to me so quickly. I'm very impressed and I will certainly be coming back for advice that I will need in the future.

I do have a CD with the necessary driver that the Norton's Disk requires. However Michael I don't have a clue as to adding this information on to the Ghost Driver. I have e-mailed Norton's Tech Support and asked them. It will probably be a wee-while before I hear anything.

According to the Driver Validation Tool there is information as to adding these drivers in the hand book. I have been looking, still cant find the relevant information. I will keep looking!

Thank again for your help

Our Reply: No problem, I just hope you get it fixed. Let me know what happens. Talk to you later.
